U.S. Says Digital Economy for Real
Commerce Secretary William Daley said Wednesday research indicates consumers are becoming comfortable making transactions on-line. "The digital economy is alive and growing," he said at a Washington briefing, explaining a department study shows traffic on the Internet is doubling every 100 days and an estimated 10 million people in North America made purchases on-line last year. The report, titled "The Emerging Digital Economy," is available on-line at http://www.ecommerce.gov/emerging.htm.
